In modern society, which stresses on rights and equality, you might think of woman as confident, prosperous, as well as glowing with health and beauty as a result of frequent visits to spas. However, if you believe that this applies to all the three billion female occupants of our planet, I have to say that, sadly, you are wrong.

Most of the time, women are treated unjustly by the law, perhaps it is because they do not have the Y-chromosome. And many still continue to feel the age-old lash of violence and discrimination.

Fortunately, the rights and capabilities of women, are recognised by international law with occasions such as International Women’s Day. The first International Women's Day was held in 1911, but it was international only in the technical sense that women in four European nations marched. These activists were ahead of their time in thinking about women's economic and political equality. They may not have been so far ahead of their time that they envisioned what it has come to mean for many of us today.

Today, International Women’s Day is celebrated not just to focus greater attention on women’s rights and gender equality but also as a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate the acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. Yearly, Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.

Now, International Women's Day represents a movement that is for every woman and girl, no matter where they live. Last year, Malala Yousafzai became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner in history for risking her life for the cause of universal girls' education.

When I try to imagine the future, I am optimistic because I see women demanding information and opportunities in the face of social norms that say they're not permitted to do so. Mother Teresa, Malala, Rigoberta and Marie Curie aren't the only heroes. Millions of people—men and women—stand by the conviction that empowered women are a source of progress.

There is a long list of famous, influential women who have lived, and are living in our society, and it includes women’s rights activists, female poets, musicians, politicians, humanitarians and scientists. They were all just another ordinary woman who had to overcome so many hurdles just to do what they love and not just that, they contributed to the society as well.our visitors who you are.df
